Lorna MacPhail is a yoga and meditation teacher and is also a mindfulness and compassion teacher accredited by the Counselling and Psychotherapy Central Awarding Body.

Lorna first discovered yoga back in 1998, but it wasn’t until a few years later, whilst living in South East Asia, that yoga had a profound effect on her life. Over the past 20 years, Lorna has used the practices of yoga postures, meditation, mindfulness and breath work to manage symptoms of PTSD, stress and anxiety. After experiencing first hand the benefits of these transformative practices, Lorna decided to devote her time to create programmes that would support others in overcoming the psychological and physiological challenges of modern life.

Lorna’s background in Science, having completed a Bachelor of Science Degree, paved the way for her interest in the scientific developments of yoga and meditation and the effects these practices have on the mind and body. Lorna integrates these ancient practices with modern scientific insight in her teachings and courses.

Using her innovative fusion of yoga, meditation, mindfulness, breath work and neuroscience, Lorna works with clients to support them through their journey of healing and wellbeing. Lorna developed her unique style of mindful yoga flow in response to the unrealistic demands of modern life and the effects that it has on our bodies and minds. Lorna enjoys the balance of dynamic and restorative yoga based practices and this is reflected in her teaching.

Lorna creates a welcoming and inclusive space where individuals are encouraged to work at their own level and pace and are supported in learning how to tune into their own body’s wisdom.

As an experienced school teacher, Lorna has spent many years working in inner city schools in London. Working with families from socially and economically deprived backgrounds, refugees and asylum seekers, Lorna witnessed the desperate need to support the mental health and wellbeing of the children and families within her care. Lorna completed a research programme with The London Centre for Leadership and Learning at UCL/Institute of Education. Her area of focus and research was integrating mindfulness practices into the primary school curriculum. Since then Lorna has designed a bespoke programme that introduces a whole school approach to integrating mindfulness into the curriculum. She has led workshops and training for both teaching staff and parents and has run a variety of health days to promote mental health and wellbeing in schools.

​Lorna also runs yoga, meditation and mindfulness and compassion courses and offers these courses in one to one, group and corporate settings both online and in person.

Lorna lives in London and spends much of her free time in nature, visiting art galleries and being with friends and family.
